How ‘Hollywood Journal’ spent the summer – Part 1
by soul of the biz
From Hawaii to Israel, to our own L.A. backyard, Hollywood Journal‘s contributors had a fabulous summer. Have fun scrolling through their vacation snapshots!
Enjoy the first album (more to follow)!!
Craig Detweiler – Craig and his family at Sawyer Glacier near Juneau, Alaska.
Rebecca Stay – Left: Minnesota Family Reunion, enjoying one of ten thousand lakes. Inset: BlogHer 13 Convention — Chicago Style
Dara Resnik Creasey – My summer meant two things: spending time with my toddler and starting as a producer on the TV show Castle.
Here’s a pic where I combined them both.
Abby Ex – Sitting at the pool at my very first visit to the Parker Palm Springs, where I discovered their “muddled lemonades” and proceeded to have the most relaxing weekend from the grind of Hollywood.
It will be a regular tradition!
Jen Grisanti – Left: Jen dining with the group from the TV Writers Summit (Ellen Sandler, Chad Gervich and Troy DeVolld) and our hosts in Israel.
Right: Jen in front of the Sea of Galilee on her last day in Israel.
Sherre Hirsch – Tire rafting in Yosemite with my family.
Kate VanDevender – I crashed my parents’ timeshare in Hawaii with the excuse that I was there to write a new script.
Average number of piña coladas consumed in one day: 6.
Total number of pages written: 0.
A.J.Weiner – Visiting with my cousins on my NYC trip.
Pamela Buchignani – The KCRW events crew on the rooftop of One Colorado as Hot As Sun performs — part of KCRW’s Summer Nights 2013 season!
I’m second from the right:)

Julianne Grossman – ‘Why can’t I find my name?’
My fiance Tibor wondered as we shopped in downtown San Diego.
Taj Paxton – I’ve had a great summer — outdoor summer concerts, great films and friends — but didn’t do a great job of capturing it. Luckily, I was smartphone ready this special night: My mom, my sister and I at the famed Pasadena Playhouse for the premiere of Letters from Zora about the life of Zora Neale Hurston. Hurston is, hands down, one of my greatest inspirations for putting pen to paper.
Shannon Gaulding – Left: Lake Sabrina, Sierra Nevadas. Spent the week fishing and watching bald eagles wheel overhead. Me and my boys hiked to 11,000 feet amid summer blooming wild flowers and watched the clouds roll across the sky.
Right: Tubing on the James River in Virginia. We float down river, sweaty but refreshed, feet, hands and butts in the cool water listening to bird calls and the distant laughter of the kids.
Eddie Gamarra and Katrina Knudson – Left: Relaxing over a picnic dinner on an island in Wyoming’s Jackson Lake. We later learned there were massive grizzly prints on the shoreline, not far from where we were sitting.
Right: Eddie cools off after a long hike in Grand Tetons National Park.
Maren Fischer – Maren and her brother, Evan, at their first New York City baseball game! Mets vs. Tigers!
David Craig – The “Lost Coast” of Mendocino
Amy Simon – Left: Amy and boyfriend David at the Catamaran Resort in San Diego. Right: With daughter Rose at the Electric Lodge Theatre.
